8th Block Residents stage a peaceful protest

Life in the city and most parts of the state was affected on Friday by the dawn-to-dusk Karnataka bandh called by pro-Kannada outfits to protest against the Supreme Court’s direction to release Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu.
However in Koramangala, for the first time in the history of Cauvery water dispute, residents of Koramangala 8th Block under the banner of Koramangala 8th Block Welfare Association, Koramangala 8th Block Samaja Seva Sangha and Spurthy Mahila Sangha who not only supported the bandh, but went on a peaceful march on the main thoroughfares of Koramangala. The protest march began from the Corporation Bank circle in 8th Block, passed through Koramangala village, Kalyana Mantap, Canara Bank junction, BDA Complex and finally arrived near the Police station and submitted a memorandum to the Assistant Commissioner of Police.
Former President of Koramangala 8th Block Welfare Association L Nagaraj, former Secretary of Koramangala 8th Block Welfare Association and, founder of Koramangala 8th Block Samaja Seva Sangha B D Nagaraj and Harish Babu, ex-Secretaries Govindarajan K S and Sridhar, Babu Reddy, Manjunath Reddy, office-bearers of all the three organisations- Ratnamma, Sujatha, Seema Murlidhar- to mention a few, residents took part.
On the way, they enacted carrying an empty pot.
