Minister for Transport Ramalinga Reddy accompanied by Corporator Ward 151 M Chandrappa and senior BDA officials inspected the Mestripalya Lake area on Wednesday, 3rd August.
The Minister visited the lake to ascertain the status of work as there is a demand from the Citizens to hand over the lake to the BBMP for completion of the remaining work.
The Minister walked around the entire lake periphery and saw for himself the status of the lake. Incomplete fencing and some encroachments at the waste weir end and dumping of garbage in the lake were all pointed out to the Minister.
The Minister promised that the lake work would be handed over to the BBMP at the earliest and that the work would start in earnest shortly. The funds for the remaining portion of the project have been released.
Remaining work includes completion of fencing, connecting the inlets of the lake through culverts and taking up development of the 3.2 acre land parcel next to the lake. Residents have submitted a plan developed by a well known architect and expert in construction of public spaces and BBMP has promised that they will undertake to follow the citizens plan.
