City to get Signal Free Corridors at a cost of Rs 440 cr

Apart from these the city will also see much needed improvements in:
* All round development of IT-BT Hubs including Whitefield and Peenya Industrial Area.
* Multi level car parking in selected locations in the city.
t Installation of Grade separators in busy junctions.
* Also, Rs.100 crore for Lake Development and Management
* As much as  Rs.500 crore for Solid Waste Management and processing of wastes.
* To help improve the situation of inundation during rains,  Rs.800 crore for Construction of Storm water drains.
* Also,  Rs. 250 crore will be allotted for the development of 110 villages and City Municipalities and Town Municipalities coming under BBMP.

The recent budget by the Government of Karnataka has taken a stance to help solve Bengaluru city’s traffic woes, the 4 major corridors measuring 51.65 kilometres are being developed as Signal Free Corridors at an estimated cost of Rs. 440.00 crore.
Also, 16.57 km long roads in 12 Central Business Districts are being developed under Tender SURE standards at an estimated cost of Rs. 200.00 crore. As much as 350 km long 268 roads are developed under Chief Minister’s Nagarothana Scheme 2014-15 at an estimated cost of Rs. 417.17 crore. Also, 112 Bengaluru Main roads are being developed by Public Works Department at a cost of Rs. 260.00 crore and BBMP will develop ward level roads at a cost of Rs. 797.00 crore.  All of these measures have been taken up to ease the traffic congestion and also to provide respite for
A sum of Rs.1976 crore has been provided for developmental works in Bengaluru city alone.
In the year 2016-17, new works to be taken across the city include white topping to selected important city roads of 300 km length. And also, based on the successful Tender Sure Model, old city roads and new central business district road network will be developed.   Development of roads to provide enough alternative routes within the road network has also been proposed. The busy market areas, which hold a lot of significance such as Russel Market, Johnson Market and Krishnarajendra Market having heritage value will undergo development.
