3rdCity Kemp News

Responding to a personal visit to the BDA Commissioner by a delegation from the Koramangala 3rd Block Residents’ Welfare Association, BDA has stepped in to halt construction at the Ananda Social and Educational Trust project at the Koramangala 3rd Block Playground.
In a representation, Koramangala area residents have pointed out to the BDA Commissioner several serious issues:
l Blatant violation of setbacks by the project proponents
l Possible encroachment into the BBMP Playground
l Failure to obtain Commencement Certificate before construction.
Residents have asked BDA to issue a demolition order on the building under construction and have also approached BBMP and BMTF to halt construction at the site.
Residents also met the Engineering Officer of the BDA who directed Assistant Executive Engineer East to visit the site forthwith.
In response a team headed by AEE BDA (East) Suresh visited the site and found prime facie evidence of gross violations. Instructions were issued to stop construction at the site forthwith.
A delegation from Koramangala 3rd Block also met the Joint Commissioner (South) BBMP Hemachandra and requested his intervention to arrange a survey of the site to check encroachment. Hemachandra has requested Executive Engineer to do the needful in this regard.
Work at the site has stopped from 25th February onwards.
Residents are gearing up for a long fight on the issue. What shocked many residents was the attitude of the contractors of M/s Ananda Social and Educational Trust when the BDA team visited the project site. Threats were made against residents by the contractor to foist cases against area residents in the presence of the BDA team.
