Make 1st Main Road of ST Bed ONE WAY

Residents of ST Bed Layout in Koramangala have petitioned Bengalore Development Minister K J George to make 1st Main Road of their layout into One Way. On many occasions, the residents and the ST Bed RWA have been interacting with the Adugodi Traffic Police and the elected representatives, narrating the problems they have been facing till date due to heavy traffic plying through the layout as a short cut. City Kemp too had highlighted this issue in its previous editions. But no measures have been taken till date to solve the problem.
Narrow 1st Main Road and 1st A main Road in Koramangala ST Bed Layout which runs beside Naveen Terraces Apartment is being used by motorists in spite of a well laid 80ft main road which runs parallel, to avoid three signal lights motorists enter 1st main from Inner Ring Road posing lot of discomfort.
Neither can residents walk on the roads nor sleep peacefully due to heavy traffic as well as noise and pollution. Most of the motorists who use the road are not residents of ST Bed Layout, as they use the road to reach Agara, HSR Layout, BTM layout, Hosur Road and other areas.
Large number of residents suggestion is to make the road ONE WAY. The Minister for Bengaluru Development and Town Planning K J George has been urged to make this road one way from Inner Ring Road to 8th cross Intersection as it would be a great relief for the residents from constant ‘Traffic Jam’ everyday. Maharaja Hotel junction is the main exit and entry road to the Layout.
“We are supposed to be living in one of the best residential areas of the city, but in reality everyday is a struggle for us, ‘Traffic Jam’ everyday more so during peak hours at Maharaja signal is a perennial problem. My son was hit by a speeding car in front of my house. Authorities are requested to take immediate action”, says Mohan Raju ST Bed RWA Secretary.
“I cannot take my car out of my house, constant traffic on 1st main is making our lives miserable. Neither children nor elders can walk on the road”, says Rajendra Babu ST Bed RWA President.
“I am sandwiched between two major issue facing S T Bed, in the front of my house heavy traffic is creating major problems and behind stinking storm water drain”, says Anantram B S.
“The entire traffic from IRR going towards outer ring road gets on the 1st main of S T Bed, it is a nightmare for the residents. This has serious health and safety implications, administration is requested to urgently take steps to alleviate the problem”, says Jyothi Swaroop.
“Entering and exiting from ST Bed has become a real challenge not only for me my entire family, going to schools, colleges and work is a big challenge”, says Vittal Rao.
