Hosa Belaku scheme launched

hosa belakuChief Minister of Karnataka Shri Siddaramaiah and Energy Minister DK Shivakumar launched the distribution of LED bulbs under the “HOSA BELAKU” scheme. Power star Puneeth and ex-MP Ramya will be the brand ambassadors to popularize this scheme.
“Our LED programme ‘HOSA BELAKU’ will be the India’s best”, said the Energy Minister DK Shivakumar.
Karnataka Government’s focus is to reach every home with this Hosa Belaku scheme.
Under the scheme, the government will provide LED bulbs at the rate of Rs. 100 per bulb, 10 bulbs per house. People can pay in 10 monthly installments. Line Men & Meter Readers will come to each house & deliver bulbs. Bulbs will have 3 yr warranty. This scheme will save 400 MW of electricity.
CM added “By using one bulb, a consumer can save Rs. 120-130 per year via cuts in electricity bill. Hosa Belaku is a very important scheme for our state. It helps both consumers and the government”
Thermal Power Plants to come up soon
The Karnataka Government’s Energy Department is working hard to ensure that the new Thermal Power Plants complete as soon as possible so that Karnataka power issues are a thing of the past.
After nearly 8 years, Karnataka will be adding new power generation capacity.
Beginning this month, one by one, new thermal power stations in Bellary, Raichur and Bijapur will start supplying power to Karnataka’s electricity grid.
* Bellary Thermal Power Plant – Unit 3 – 700 MW
* Yermarus Thermal Power Plant – Unit 1 – 800 MW
*Yermarus Thermal Power Plant – Unit 2 – 800 MW
* Kudgi Thermal Power Plant – Unit 1 – 800 MW
Total installed capacity will be 3100 MW. It will take some time for them to produce at peak capacity. But by June 2016, they would be supplying at-least 2000 MW.
Also, by June, some solar projects also will be completed and will add more electricity to Karnataka’s grid.
