Six dancers from Krshala Dance Theatre – Anvi, Lakkshya, Maansi, Paridhi, Shrishti and Yuktha have recently returned from their first appearance at the New Prague Dance Festival and Competition.
Established July of 2006, Krshala Dance Theatre is the home of the award winning Krshala Dance Competition Team. From the past few years, the students of Krshala has been making a mark in Kathak dance. The Junior Kathak dance team has won titles, locally, nationally and internationally. This year the children have won two awards for their performances at the New Prague Dance Festival, Czech Republic, held from July 4 -10.
This competition was amongst 18 countries, 45 groups and 450 dancers. Our junior dancers stood apart from all of them with their performances, charm, grace and technique. The world renowned panel of judges included members of Music and Dramatic Arts, Faculty of Dance – Charles University, Czech Culture, National Theatre Ballet, Prague and International members: Stuttgart Ballet, Grand Ballet – Geneve, Bolshoi Theatre – Moscow and Kasay Dance Company.
The audience liked our dances, music, costumes and choreography. It was so overwhelming to hear so many praises for their performances such as “excellent,” “extraordinary,” “wonderful,” “spectacular”, “fantastic” etc. It was a spectacular and beautiful show! It was also wonderful to see the development of all the children. Their dance was so impressive. Our choreography was appreciated for its individuality and complexity.
Krshala and its founder and creative director Simran Godhwani take great pride in helping children of all ages develop physically, mentally, and emotionally through the art of dance. Her forte is Kathak Dance, Lucknow Gharana.
Based in Koramangala, Simran believes in building the person, as well as the dancer. Every year the students of Krshala are encouraged to participate in various dance and cultural festivals across India and abroad. Dance is a very competitive sport and art and is highly recognized throughout the country and internationally.
With the recognition of so many classical dance shows and competitions both nationally and internationally, it proves that dancers are both representative of the arts and sports. We are very proud of our Junior Kathak dance team and a big congratulations to each one of the participants on the success of the show.
