At the Annual General Meeting of the First Block Residents’ Welfare Association held on 7th June, members elected a new Committee to manage the affairs of the Association and carry its agenda forward into 2015-2016.
Subsequently, at the first Management Committee meeting, the office bearers were confirmed.
Annie Vellara continues to be President whilst Shakeel Ahmed remains Vice President and S Venkataranga is the Secretary. Other Committee members include Neena Paul, Avinash, Seshadri, Col Ramesh Alwar, Sundar Subramaniam and Ajay Bhaskar. RWA President Annie Vellara noted that it was important for as many first block residents as possible to join the Association for we have much greater strength in numbers when we want the many issues affecting Block to be addressed by the authorities.
Residents who are not members are requested to send an email to [email protected] with their name and phone number and someone will get back to them with the necessary membership forms. Alternately, people can call 8971641974  between 8am and 8pm and seek details.
The Residents’ Welfare Association continues to face multiple challenges including maintaining the cleanliness of the Block (a number of garbage spots), illegal parking by office goers from 7th Main, illegal commercilization, street vendors taking over entire footpaths with their activities; need for improvements to the First Block Park, enhanced Security for all and need to monitor blatant illegal constructions where setback and FAR rules are not being adhered to.
