On a Sunday morning February 22 more than 150 Volunteers from Sant Nirankari Charitable Trust along with ST Bed Volunteers and Committee members took to the streets of S T Bed Layout armed with pamphlets, brooms and garbage bags to drive home the message of Swachhta as well as Waste Segregation to the residents.
People throw waste tying in bags on the roadside and inside drains as this is a usual practice, servants hang garbage bags on trees as well as throw on some street corners. There are many dark spots where garbage bags are thrown at will everyday, very few people care for the cleanliness of the city. Inspite of ST Bed Residents’ Welfare Association informing the residents earlier going to their doorsteps, people have not stopped throwing garbage on roads. ST Bed RWA’s attempt was to create awareness as well as an impact with large number of people going to doorsteps requesting residents to be vigilant as be aware of cleanliness in the neighbourhood.
BBMP Garbage Contractor’s supervisor and workers were part of the ‘Cleanliness Drive.’ Later workers were presented with sarees by Sant Nirankari Mandal Zonal in charge Sunil Ratra. The biggest contributors to a clean society are the workers and it is our way of saying thank you for their relentless work, quipped Ratra.
Saphreen Ahuja contributed in a big way to ensure the event is conducted successfully.
Later ST Bed RWA Secretary Mohan Raju along with Vice President Anantram and Treasurer Chandrasekhar and Volunteers Sushma Ahuja, Navodita, Geeta Nadkarni, Satyanarayana, Sanjeevi thanked Sunil Ratra and his well organized team for their contribution to the society.
