Nadasurabhi’s Feb Fest inaugurated

A P RaoNadasurabhi’s newest offering to the music world Feb Fest 2015 started with its inauguration by Vidwan Anantha Padmanabha Rao, a prominent musician of Koramangala on February 19.
Vid AP Rao who has been associated with the organisation since inception, traced a brief history and expressed happiness over its growth and present level.
Following the inauguration was the concert of Vidwan P Ganesh. It was an instrumental programme on a unique south Indian instrument called Chitraveena (previously called Gottu vadhyam). Ganesh was accompanied by B K Raghu on violin, B C Manjunath om mridangam and Guruprasanna on Khanjira.
Ganesh demonstrated his expertise in this rather difficult instrument. Technically perfect and aesthetically pleasing music filled the hall for over two and a half hours. Choosing Kaa Vaa Vaa, a Tamil composition of legendary Papanasam Sivan in Varali ragam as a sub-main song and Evari maata in Kambodhi by Saint Thyagaraja as the main piece, Ganesh enthralled the audience with his creativity.
Bharathi Ramasubban Concert Chiraveena Ganesh ConcertThe second day’s concert on February 20 was by another exponent in carnatic music from Chennai, Vidushi Bharathi Ramasubban. The programme was an authoritative confident presentation of chaste classicism and limitless manodharma. She was accompanied by Vittala Rangan on violin, N C Bharadwaj on mridangam and Sunaad Anoor on Khanjira. Commencing with a mayamalavagowla kriti Vidhulako of Thyagaraja including an elaborate swaraprasthaaram, Bharathi set the tone for the concert.
A lovely Sahana Yee Vasuda was presented as the sub main piece. Soundararajam, a dikshitar’s Brindavana saaranga masterpiece, although was not taken up for detailed elaboration, was bhaava laden and emotionally touched the audience. The main was once again Kambhodhi in this concert. An aazhwaar paasuram and meera bhajan were the concluding pieces.
Overall the music series in Koramangala is proceeding well and is being appreciated by one and all.
