Here the solution turns out to be a problem. Two unauthorised unscientific road humps (speed-breaker) have been laid illegally on Koramangala-Adugodi Main Road in 8th Block near Narayan Techno School. These unauthorised road humps are causing a lot of inconvienance to motorists especially two-wheeler riders. Many senior citizens living in the block narrated about their hardship they are facing day-to-day because of these two road humps.
“Senior citizens, children and pregnant women face a lot of problems due to this”, said a resident Yethiraj. “It is a matter of shame that ill-designed speed breakers are the cause of many accidents in the city. The civic body, which has been neglecting this issue for long, must get its act together to ensure that all speed breakers conform to Indian Road Congress standards, for the safety of citizens on roads.”, said another resident. As per the Indian Road Congress, the height of a road hump should be 0.125 metres (Appx 5 inches) and a width of 3 metres.
Traffic Warden and senior resident K S Govindarajan said that if a road hump is required then let the authorities lay it in a scientific manner. The resident also brought to the notice of Adugodi Traffic Police Inspector Lakshminarayana who admitted that the laid humps are illegal and would be removed. Even at appropriate places speed breakers should have a reflective cautionary board about 100 meters ahead of the breaker. BBMP and the Traffic Cell officials need to identify the unapproved and unscientifically laid speed breakers and remove them to help motorists enjoy a safe ride.
