“illegal’ commercialisation rampant; Eatery shut as residents object

breakfastResidents of Jakkasandra Block and 3rd Block Koramangala are upset and angry over the BBMP health department and the BBMP ward office over the issue of an eatery being established in violation of High Court orders on 8th Main Road.
Calling itself “Breakfast Club”, the establishment is located in an area designated as “Residential” in Master Plan 2015. In terms of the orders passed by the High Court of Karnataka in WP 3676/2008, no commercial activity is permitted there. Koramangala 3rd Block Residents’ Welfare Association has already written to the BBMP Health department objecting to the establishment and requesting denial of trade license.
In brazen violation of the law, the establishment opened on 20th November but alert residents complained to the health department and the establishment was closed again the same day.
However, one angry resident of J Block told City Kemp that large scale collusion between local BBMP officials and the owners of such commercial establishments was rampant. “It is impossible to believe in the BBMP officials claim of ignorance”, said another resident.
Readers may recall that a few weeks ago City Kemp had raised the issue of several commercial establishments near BDA complex all of which are functioning illegally. When contacted residents complain that BBMP is continuing to drag its feet regarding taking action on the issue.
